Potential Student Initiators & New Leaders

My involvement leading the Sustained Dialogue group and maintaining ties to the national network and alumni has been an inspiring experience. The most important things I've learned are the importance of individuals' experience in shaping their worldview, the value of listening, the necessity of being open to personal change, and the need to respect the complex intersections of people's identities. Sustained Dialogue has been instrumental in shaping my commitment to issues of social equality and identifying instances of inequality when they occur.

I've also found that what I've done within SD is applicable in all types of relationships among individuals and groups, which is what makes SD a tool that I will continue to use. I hope to keep the process with me as I pursue a Master's degree in South Africa and apply to law schools, and I'm staying involved with SDCN to support other students in their own formative SD experiences.

Sustained Dialogue Alumni

SDCN's growth since 1999 has created a critical mass of campus program alumni who have taken their experience within Sustained Dialogue with them after college into new arenas. Our alumni represent a set of talented civic leaders who have brought a uniquely aware and mature perspective to a variety of professional, educational, and personal contexts.
