SDCN Meets with Coordinator of Zimbabwean Campus Sustained Dialogue Network(Sustained Dialogue Campus Network)

Kirstin Rothrock, the coordinator of the Campus Sustained Dialogue Network, located on three Zimbabwean campuses, recently visited the Sustained Dialogue Campus Network’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. to share her experiences with the current program directors of the American program.

Rothrock works with the Centre for Conflict Management and Transformation (CCMT), an NGO based in Harare that primarily works at the grassroots level, building local peace-building and conflict management capacity.

Rothrock says, “Over the past year we have helped students from three universities in Zimbabwe create dialogue groups to analyze the issues affecting them on campus, such as sexual harassment, the lack of good communication with the administration, and poor service delivery. The dialogue sessions give them a safe space to explore the dynamics of those conflicts and then decide what they can do about them.”

SDCN and CSDN operate independently but share their peace-building aims and roots within the Sustained Dialogue process. The two organizations look forward to continue sharing materials and best practices.
